Nepal into Semifinal

Nepal booked a place in the semifinal of ACC women’s cricket tournament with a comprehensive win over Hong Kong on sunday. Nepal also became the group winner with ten points in total with eight points form two win and two points from a draw against the host Malaysia. Nepal will face China while Hong Kong will play against Bangladesh on July17th.
Nepal bowled superbly to get Hong Kong all out for mere 31 runs in 23.5 overs. Captain Nary Thapa and Nira Rajopadhyaya spearheaded the bowling attack and took three wickets each. Nepal dismissed Hong Kong skipper cheaply, she scored only five runs, and controlled the game form the beginning. After the veteran skipper Pratt, who had been shouldering the batting responsibility of the team so far, returned to the pavilion early Hong Kong’s down fall began and continued till the end.
Nepal in its turn scored 34 runs in 23.5 runs with a loss of three wickets. Nary who had come to the crease with the team requiring two runs to win scored a boundary and completed the chase. Madhu Thapa scored 11 while opener Manisha Rawal scored ten runs. Both scored a boundary each off their bat.
Nepal’s bowlers did not bowl a single wide and gave only two extra runs – no ball and a leg by. Hong Kong collapsed under the tight bowling. Seta Rana and Ritu Kanaujaya took a wicket each.
