Nepal bows down to Bangladesh

Nepal’s hope of making history by winning the first ACC Women Cricket tournament was shattered by Bangladesh on Wednesday. Unimpressive batting form Nepal ensured an eight wicket win of Bangladesh. On winning the toss Nepal opted to bat first and could not make a flying start. When rain interrupted the game Nepal was 12 for 3 in twelve overs. When play resumed the match was reduced to 18 overs. At the end of 18 overs Nepal was 26 for 8. None of the Nepali batters reached double figure. Bangladesh completed the chase in ten overs for the lose of two wickets. Niru and Nary tow a wicket each. Nitu dismissed opener Akhater who had socred two runs. Likewise Nary sent Panna Gosh back to pavilion.
Nepal winner of group B had started the tournament with a 55 run victory over Thailand. Second match against the host’s Malaysia had ended on a tie. Nepal had entered the Semi-final beating the pre tournament favorites Hong Kong’s by seven wickets. and an impressive nine-wicket win over China had enabled Nepal’s route to final.
Sarswati and Nary were the top scores with five runs each. Before being dismissed by Teethe Rani Sarkar Nitu Thapa had made four runs.
Nary Thapa, skipper of Nepal was awarded the best bowler award. Nary took 12 wickets in from five matches.
