Beijing Experience

Making it to the Olympics was a dream come true. I had worked hard for more than seventeen years for this day to materialize. I was equally proud to be a part of the grandest Olympic so far.
Things were going fine, I was preparing hard to break my national record. But just a few minutes before the whistle for my event blew off I pulled a hamstring in my right leg. I was devastated. Luckily the Russian athlete beside me massaged my leg for a while. Pulling up all of my strength I completed the race and on the process got the worst international timing (13.15) of my career.
One my event was off I was free to do as I like and I traveled as much as I could. Visiting The Great Wall of China was quite an experience. Its so huge! couldn’t believe humans had made it.
Living at the Olympic village was yet another experience. Meeting so many great players, eating with them in the same dining hall and using the same training facilities was simply awesome.
Making the most of the opportunity I took a picture with Ronaldhino, my favorite footballer. I also took a picture with Usain Bolt. Olympic parade was yet another moment I was really proud of myself as an athlete. Walking in front of all those seventy five head of the states in our national attire was an experience I will always cherish.
Then there was the experience at a shopping mall. On finding out that we were Olympic players the shopkeeper apart from taking a picture with us also took our autograph.
Even though I could perform up to the expectation I learned a lot in Beijing. I watched the medal winners, they were no different from us. Preparation was the only difference between them and us.
Even before the Beijing Olympics had come to an end they were already thinking of the London Olympics. Given proper training and diet like them we too could win medals like them.
When the Russian athlete who had massaged my leg was told me that being a national player is a great feat in t heir country and once you accomplish it the there is no need to worry about their future. I was telling myself we have a long way to go before we reach your status.

Wow, this is a good experience that is well included in this website. Good to see this and I expect to see similar experiences of our athletes when they go abroad and compete internationally.
