Prime and Gyanodaya in final

KATHMANDU, Dec 23 - Defending champion Prime College will play against Gyanodaya in the Prime Cup National Basketball Championship after winning their games on Sunday.
Gyanodaya axed RIBS 41-34 while Prime College came from behind to earn a 46-34 victory over Don Bosco.
In the Prime-Don Bosco clash, Don Bosco took the early initiative taking a 10-8 lead in the first quarter. Ravi Giri of the home team kept his team alive scoring five of the team’s total eight points.
The second quarter took off amidst high hopes from the roaring Prime supporters and the home team gave just what they wanted. It worked in unison to get rid of the visitors 15-10.
The lead in the second quarter instilled some confidence in the home team as it grew more dominant opening up a one-sided 13-4 score line. Mikesh Raj Shakya saved the visitors’ blushes getting all the four points.
Don Bosco got back in the game when time was against it. Though it managed to hold the home team to a 10-10 tie, it could not avert the loss due to its poor showing in the third quarter.
In the other men’s semifinal, Gyanodaya had the upper hand in the first quarter with a narrow 7-6 lead but RIBS emerged the better side in the second quarter taking it 12-7. The third quarter was a keenly contested battle with both sides fighting to secure a place in the finals but Gyanodaya out played RIBS taking it 12-11 while the next final quarter also belonged to Gyanodaya with the scores of 15-5.
Likewise in the women’s section, defending champion Prime College will look to save its title from Orient College in the final. Prime overwhelmed New Summit 47-14 with Gyanu Gauchan’s 14 points while Orient secured a convincing 28-16 win over White House.
